SPURS Gallery is pleased to present NO××××××××HATRED, a solo exhibition of recent works by Lin Yilin.

 

 

This is the artist's second solo presentation with the gallery since The Departure from Her Feet in 2017. Featuring three new films, three sculptures and one wall installation, the exhibition shows relativity to current events and are works created during the past two years in New York since the outbreak of the pandemic COVID-19. Also included are Typhoon (2019), commissioned by M+, Hong Kong and performance work ×××××××× (2017), commissioned by the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture, Shenzhen and presented here as a video installation.

About the artist

 

Lin Yilin was born in 1964 in Guangzhou, China, and lives and works in New York. He Co-founded "Big-Tail-Elephant" Group in 1990 and has participated in Cities on the Move in 1997, the 2nd Johannesburg Biennale in 1997, the 1st Taipei Biennale in 1998, the 4th Gwangju Biennale in 2002, the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, Documenta 12 in 2007, the 10th Lyon Biennale in 2009, the 12th Swiss Sculpture Exhibition in 2014, the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015 and the 12th Havana Biennale in 2015. His works were showed in the Kunsthalle Bern, the Guggenheim Museum and the MoMA PS1 and the Asia Society Museum in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, the Hayward Gallery in London, M+ in Hong Kong and MAXXI in Rome. Lin’s conceptual practices have always been an energetic and witty mingling of social architecture and everyday life. He is recognized for a practice that embraces sculpture, installation, photography to live action and video featuring outdoor performances.
