FORT

FORT consists of Alberta Niemann (1982 in Bremen) and Jenny Kropp (1978 in Frankfurt am Main). The artists live and work in Berlin.

The central subject of their work are everyday objects of private and public space, which are recreated or subtly alienated. The works move on a fine line between the familiar and the mysterious, the serious and the humorous.

FORT consciously plays with images of memory and longing, in which the intimacy of the familiar is transformed into the oppressive or absurd.

We had created a world in which the transitions between reality and fiction seemed fluid. That was a defining moment and the initial spark for our collaboration.

Our collective functions like an organism made up of different organs working together.
